Forever England

This project takes the mould of a classic social documentary, exploring the home and working lives of people living in a single community – but here those people are all less than four inches high. Documenting the inhabitants of Bekonscot Model Village, the world’s oldest model village (opened in 1929) in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire. The images show us a world whose undisturbed Groundhog Day workings are extremely comforting: no one is struggling with their destiny, and nothing ever change – as in a photograph, these miniature people, streets and houses are trapped in time. These images were published in the book Forever England (Dewi Lewis Publishing, Stockport 2006); ISBN 1-904587-305
