The Indecisive Moment

These wedding photographs are the indecisive moments-before or moments-after, ‘nobody’s on’ twins of official wedding pictures, taken back when I used to photograph people’s nuptials to supplement my professional income. This personal photography project demonstrates what happens when a documentary photographer shoots weddings and is interested to take more than just the set menu of album-ready images. Friendly but quietly subversive, these pictures emphasise the fragility of the highly composed groupings (and of the relationships they represent) that we are so used to seeing in formal wedding pictures.
